ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson clarified her position on the resignation of Gov.r Eric Greitens Wednesday.

Tuesday she tweeted:

"I thank the governor for his service. I know this was a hard decision. My hope is that we get back to working for the people and doing the business of the state."

The tweet drew criticism, with some observers, including other Democratic leaders, interpreting the message as praise for Greitens.

Wednesday, Krewson made a statement intended to clear up any misconceptions.

"I always try to take the high road and always try not to add to the drama, and of course that was my first tweet, it wasn't particularly successful, it didn't hit the mark on that," she said. "Really, I think he made the right decision and I'm glad that as a state we can now continue to move forward."
