UNION, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- An 18-year-old man is in custody after chasing his mother with a pole and threatening neighbors Sunday.

According to police, around 5:45 p.m., officers responded to a call from neighbors in the 200 block of Grandview Street that a man was chasing his mother around the yard with a pole.

En route to that call, a second call came in that the same man was threatening neighbors with a hammer.

Officers took the suspect into custody inside his home, but he resisted arrest and had to be maced.

While officers tried to put him in the back of the patrol car, the man kicked the door, damaging it.

He is currently held at the Franklin County Jail, pending charges for domestic assault, resisting arrest, and property damage.
