ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Two people were hospitalized after a semi-truck fell off the ramp to the Poplar Street Bridge in downtown St. Louis early Monday morning.

After rolling off the ramp, the contents of the semi-truck were piled up at the crash site. The truck appeared to be carrying an array of things, including food products, car parts and carpet.

A News 4 photographer on the scene shortly after the crash occurred saw two people being taken to the hospital. One of the people was alert and conscious while being loaded into the ambulance. The condition of the second person is unknown.

The ramp was closed for a short time but is now reopen. A MoDOT inspector told News 4 the integrity of the ramp is safe for drivers currently but an 80-foot span is cracked and will eventually need to be repaired.
