ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) - A Tower Grove East man says he has to run off an intruder after he broke into his home while he was inside.

Adam Smith says it was a baseball bat that helped scared off a would-be thief from his home Tuesday.

“Me and the bat were enough to scare him off,” Smith said

Smith says he was taking a break from yard work, sitting on his balcony when he heard noises coming from downstairs.

“I saw him coming down the steps here with a TV in hand,” he said

Smith says the man started running down the street with his 60 inch TV.

“Chased him about five houses up the street before he dropped the TV.”

He says the suspect was able to get into his house by going through the back door.

News 4 discovered that Smith did make a police report.  The suspect hasn’t been arrested.
