Collinsville man charged in connection with attempted burglary

ST. CLAIR, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A 30-year-old man has been charged with attempting to burglarize a St. Clair business.

Joshua Brown, of Collinsville Ill. is being charged with multiple felony accounts in connection with attempted robbery.

On Wednesday, around 11 p.m. officers from the Fairview Heights Police Department responded to the 9100 block of St. Clair Avenue due to an alarm sounding off at a business.

When officers arrived, they found a large object had been thrown through the glass of the front door. It appeared as though the suspect broke into several vehicles on the lot of the business.

Police say they were unsure at the time if the suspect entered the business after breaking the glass.

After searching the area, a potential suspect was discovered in the 9000 block of St. Clair Avenue. The suspect, upon observing the officers, ran away.

Police briefing chased Brown and took him into custody.

It was determined the suspect was indeed the person who committed the described crimes.

Brown is charged with attempted burglary, criminal damage to property and obstructing a police officer,

He is being held in custody on a $50,000 bond.
