BEL-RIDGE, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

The current mayor of Bel-Ridge has filed two restraining orders against a former mayor.

Mayor Willie Fair says he is ready to leave the past behind, but he can’t.

“There are so many stumbling blocks upon me that I cannot do my job effectively,” said Fair.

One resident told News 4 that several aldermen are trying to oust Fair.

Fair says he keeps having run-ins with former mayor Rachel White and has filed restraining orders to keep her away from city hall.

“I am the mayor there, but they don’t recognize me as being mayor. They are still in the old mode with the old mayor’s agenda and they are sticking with it,” Fair said.

In April, many police officers threatened to quit because they were concerned that Fair would bring back former police chief Gordon Brock.

That’s in the past, Fair says, but he added that problems keep popping up because of White.

White sent News 4 a statement saying in part:

I left city hall peacefully on the last day of my term, I am no longer involved with any city matters. The current mayor ’s statements are false.

White added that Fair is blaming others for his “incompetence.”

Bel-Ridge’s police chief says the department is enforcing the restraining orders.
