ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Students at a St. Louis school are taking their learning outside and getting a little dirty.

But their teachers are OK with that because their school now has a garden.

It's part of a new outdoor learning space at Walbridge Elementary in the Walnut Park East neighborhood in north St. Louis.

The garden is funded with support from Schnucks and Dole Foods and the Captain Planet Foundation.

A spokesperson says the garden space has everything students need to learn how plants grow.

The Captain Planet Foundation is based on the Captain Planet cartoon.

After 26 years in the Atlanta area, it’s branching out to other cities.
