ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Dozens attended a trivia night at Christian Brothers Catholic School to support former Rock Hill Police officer Matt Crosby, who was left paralyzed after being shot while responding to a domestic disturbance call in 2010.

"It makes me very happy everybody cares so much about Matt," said Crosby's mother, Virginia.

Eight years later, Crosby's crew is stronger than ever by showing compassion at several trivia nights, dine-outs, and private donations throughout the years. News 4's Ray Preston posed the questions at the second annual Ofc. Matt Crosby Trivia night Saturday but there was no inquires left when it came to participation.

And Crosby feels the impact.

"I don't have the words. I am just thankful. I am just extremely touched by everyone's support and generosity. It just blows me away," Crosby said. "A year ago, I was on bed rest for eight months and had four surgeries. Now, I am thriving and working on getting strong and losing weight."

Crosby's road to recovery remains longer than anyone could have imagined but many are hopeful and supportive.

"He needs the help. He needs the house, so why not," said donor Doug Titus. " Time has no limit. You know? It is not going to heal him. He needs the help."

All donations and money raised during the event will go towards building a house for Crosby and his family.
