Firefighter, 2 others injured in St. Louis County fire

BELLEFONTAINE NEIGHBORS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A firefighter was among three people injured in a north St. Louis County fire overnight.

The fire broke out around midnight at a home in the 9200 block of Longridge Drive in Bellefontaine Neighbors. Officials told News 4 the home was occupied by an elderly couple.

Riverview Battalion Chief told News 4 the fire started in the basement, where one man had to be rescued. A neighbor later said the man has mobility limitations.  

The woman was able to get out of the house on her own but had minor injuries.

A firefighter from Riverview was taken to a hospital with a knee injury. He reportedly slipped on a step outside of the home.

The home’s residents were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Officials said both are expected to survive.
