ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – In honor of National Salvation Army Week, St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson presented The Salvation Army with a proclamation.

“It has been our privilege to serve the St. Louis community for the past 75 years for those facing substance abuse challenges,” said Lt. Colonel Dan Jennings, The Salvation Army’s Bi-State CEO. “With our Midtown Service and Treatment Center continuing the mission of the Harbor Lights Center, The Salvation Army will serve the St. Louis region for the next 75 years and beyond. The Salvation Army appreciates the support of Mayor Krewson and the city of St. Louis.”

The Salvation Army has been helping men and women in the area since 1943.

National Salvation Army Week, which was first declared by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954, is recognized from May 14 to May 20.
