RICHMOND HEIGHTS (KMOV.com) - If you live in the St. Louis area, you've probably noticed a green film on everything outside and more sneezing.

"We were hoping for spring. Where is spring? It's like we skipped from winter to summer," said Maureen Albers of Wildwood as she picked out flowers for a Mother's Day project.

We may have missed the spring-like temps, but the pollen made itself known.

"It is worse. It has to do with a compacted season. We had snow on Easter, now 90s on Mother's Day. Everything held off and then it all happened at once," said Tom Bowman, manager at Garden Heights Nursery in Richmond Heights.

That's leaving many in misery.

"My husband has been coughing and sneezing," said Albers, noting her daughter lost her voice because of allergies, too.

The allergies hit hard because the weather did, too.

"Redbuds bloom early, Dogwoods bloom later, but this year they bloomed together," said Bowman.

He said Oak is the big issue right now. But, relief may be near.

"A lot of the big offenders have finished or are about to," said Bowman.
