AFFTON (KMOV.com) -

A unique car wash was held in South County Friday to teach preschoolers the value of service.

Preschoolers from Affton Early Childhood spent part of the school district’s community day of service dipping sponges in soapy water and scrubbing St. Louis County police cars and an Affton school bus.

On the community day of service, everyone spends at leads one hour volunteering their time.

“Some of them said boo and some of them said yes,” said Erica Chandler with the Affton School District.

The preschoolers had car cleaning duty, wiping down everything from tires to the trunk, even asking the officers for help getting to hard to reach spots.

They also got to know the police officers, asking about the equipment they carry.

Students also held a lemonade stand to raise money for Angels Arms, a non-profit organization that helps foster children.

There was also another car wash to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
