NORTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -

Police are investigating a shooting that involved two officers in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood of North St. Louis city Wednesday afternoon.

Just before 3 p.m., two officers conducted a traffic stop in the 5900 block of Ridge Avenue pulling a car over with three individuals inside.

That’s when police say the driver of the vehicle, a 35-year-old female, fled the scene on foot and was not seen again. The two other suspects in the car were taken into custody for possession of suspected narcotics.

While police apprehended the two suspects, an individual fired a shot in the direction of the officers from across the street. Additional officers responded to the area and were able to locate the suspect who shot at the officers.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
