ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) -

It appears not even emergency surgery can keep Yadier Molina down for long.

A post to Molina’s Instagram account Wednesday showed the Cardinal catcher with a big smile on his face, and featured a caption that indicates he’s doing much better after undergoing emergency surgery Saturday night for a traumatic pelvic hematoma. The injury occurred when a batter in Saturday's game fouled tipped a Jordan Hicks 102 mph fastball straight back, into Molina's groin.

Yeah, that doesn’t sound fun at all. But here’s a rough translation of Molina’s post just a few short days later:

How rich it feels to walk without pain. Good, a little pain. Thank you all for your prayers. They really help! I am very positive and crazy to get well to return to the field with my team and teammates! Thank you again for all your messages and prayers! God bless you all!! Lets go Cards!!!!

Original reports stated Molina would miss somewhere in the neighborhood of a month of baseball action due to the injury. Molina had been off the a strong start offensively, mashing six home runs in just over a month to begin the season. Carson Kelly and Francisco Pena are tasked with backstop duties in Molina’s absence.
