CASEYVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

Caseyville Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly stealing a television from a motel and driving off with it.

Authorities say Philip A. Ney, of Belleville, took a TV out of an America’s Best Inn window and place it in a car. An officer attempted to stop Ney when he began reaching around near his waistband.

Ney was immediately detained. After searching him, police found a loaded pistol with a sawed off barrel. Police also confirmed Ney was a prior convicted felon.

On Tuesday, the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Ney with unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Bond is set at $35,000.
