3 left without home in Cahokia fire, another home damaged

CAHOKIA, Ill. (KMOV.com) – News 4 is on the scene of an early morning house fire that left two homes damaged in the Metro East.

Officials confirm that fire happened at 5000 St. Barbara and crews are still on scene assessing the damage.

Three people are left without a home following a fire that fully destroyed their home around 1 a.m. Another house was also damaged in the fire but the family was able to go back inside.

The Cahokia Fire Chief says the fire started after a part of the gas man ruptured and caused a secondary fire. 

The Illinois State Fire Marshall will continue this investigation to determine whether or not this fire is suspicious. 

Residents in the area tell News 4 they did report hearing a noise and came out to see a house in flames.
