SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

Residents in one south St. Louis County neighborhood say they don't want a proposed storage facility near their homes.

"Why do they need to build a four-story building in front of our neighborhood?" says Mark Zang.

The storage facility is slated to go where the now-closed Show Me Lanes bowling alley is on Lemay Ferry Road.

Nearby residents say they worry about increased truck traffic and don't like the height of the building.

Steve Langford of U-Haul St. Louis says he wants to build something nice for the community, preferring to build upon the site rather than a sprawling wider building, and he adds he thinks the storage facility will generate less traffic than the bowling alley.

Langford says he plans to meet with residents in two weeks to explain more about his plans.

A final decision on the development will be up to the St. Louis County Council.
