ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A St. Louis gas station clerk charged with murder has pleaded guilty to a federal gun charge.

Taleb Jawher, 40, is accused of shooting and killing Christopher Simmons in September.

Prosecutors say he suspected Simmons of trying to steal a $1 candy bar at a Phillips 66 on North Florissant in North City.

He recently pleaded guilty to being an illegal alien in possession of a gun.

He is still facing murder charges in connection with the shooting.
