NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

A parolee missing from a veterans home in Missouri was found at a hotel in Hazelwood overnight.

Just after midnight Saturday, Jon Stacey was reported missing from the Missouri Veterans Home near the 10000 block of Lewis and Clark Blvd in North County.

Police said Stacey has a heart condition and has missed times for his medication. He has previously left the veterans home but always returned. Investigators said he was picked up and left from the veteran’s home in an unknown vehicle.

Stacey is on parole for a first-degree murder conviction. He was sentenced to life in prison in 1983 but details surrounding his early released are not yet known.

Corporal Dane Kaltenbach of Bellefontaine Neighbors said their concern is not because of Stacey’s criminal past. The 79-year-old has dementia and history of substance abuse issues.

“We’re more concerned now because he usually returns after a day or two, he is without medication,” said Kaltenbach.

Early Monday morning, Bellefontaine Neighbors police said Stacey was found at the La Quinta Inn on Taylor Road. He appeared to be okay but was in need of medication.
