CASEYVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

Two people were rescued by firefighters after a car went into water in Caseyville, Illinois.

A car went off westbound of I-64 near Illinois Route 157 just after 5:30 p.m. Friday. Two lanes of I-64 were closed.

The view from SkyZoom 4 showed crews pulling two people from the partially submerged car while a power pole lying in the water.  Firefighters removed the windshield to get everyone inside out safely.

French Village Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Chris Nordmann said they're not sure what caused the driver to crash and landed into a ditch near a retaining pond.

"The ditch is approximately 4 feet deep right now. It's a ditch that drains into a lake here on the west side, said Nordmann.

The crash took out a power pole, sending power lines into the water.

Information on injuries was not immediately known.

Illinois State Police are handling the crash investigation.
