BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Firefighters responded after a house exploded in Belleville Tuesday morning.

The explosion occurred in the 400 block of North 40th shortly after 4 a.m.

Following the explosion, firefighters reported they were working to extinguish the flames of the second-alarm fire. An unoccupied home next door was also damaged in the fire.

Officials said no one was home at the time of the explosion and that the home was for sale.

There are currently no known injuries. 

No other details have been released.
