ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – An 18-year-old has been charged in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old mother in north St. Louis County.

Christian Beemer is accused of killing 19-year-old Shawnee Staten in the 3500 block of Sugar Crest Drive around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. Police said Staten was holding her 2-month-old daughter when she was shot in the face.

Friday, police said Beemer, who was identified by a witness, was being held on a $1 million bond.

St. Louis County Police Department’s Crime Against Persons Unit is currently investigating the fatal shooting.
