Juvenile with stolen gun ran from officers while in handcuffs, police say

Belleville Police are searching for a juvenile who ran from police while in handcuffs after officers attempted to arrest him and a group of friends for possession of cannabis and a stolen firearm.

On April 23 just before 9:30 a.m., patrol officers located two 14-year-old males and three 15-year-old males in an alleyway near the 1200 block of North Church.

Police say while searching the young men, the officers found cannabis and a stolen firearm on their persons. While searching the juveniles and handcuffing them, one of the subjects took off running from the scene, still in handcuffs.

Officers, along with a K-9 Officer, searched the area for the subject but were unable to locate him. Police took the remaining subjects into custody.

The Belleville Police Department has identified the juvenile that fled, but have not released that information to the public.
