FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Lezley McSpadden, Michael Brown’s mother, says she is considering running for a City Council seat in Ferguson.

McSpadden made the announcement during a panel discussion at Harvard University Monday night. During the discussion, Brown family attorney Benjamin Crump urged McSpadden to announce what she was contemplating.

“What I’m contemplating is running for the City Council of Ferguson,” said McSpadden.

After the announcement, the crowd erupted in applause.

“There are several people back home that are willing to help me get that going and make sure that I’m treated right,” she continued.

Crump then chimed in with encouragement.

“What a legacy that would be – elected to the City Council and supervising the same police that killed Michael Brown,” said Crump.
