Esports are continually evolving, global representation has grown massively as has prize money. Different games popularity, and how we play and interact with each other within them has changed dramatically. Improvements in technology has helped make this possible, and there is also the social culture that has formed esports as we know it today.
This has created a massive global market of fans projected to reach 600 million by 2020 by Newzoo, the games industry researcher. This is of huge interest to sponsors and marketers. Originally sponsorship came from related brands, such as gaming and PC peripherals, but as esports has grown and crossed into the maintstream, big spending brands such as Gillete, Coca-Cola and Audi are now involved.
However, there are problems for brands and companies wishing to enter the esports market.
