A man was found shot and killed inside his home in North St. Louis Sunday morning has been identified.
Mark Jacox, 54, was found inside a home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The shooting happened at 7:15 a.m. in the 5200 block of Gilmore Ave. in the Walnut Park East neighborhood.
A News 4 crew on the scene witnessed one man be taken away in handcuffs by police.
The home where the shooting happened was located right across the street from El Bethel M.B. Church. Despite an active crime scene Sunday morning, their church service went on as usual.
"All we're going to do is keep praying and see if we can get something together to stop this violence," said OD Donaldson, a church member.
"We can't determine when somebody is going to do something out of order, so you can't stop your service. You have to go on and praise your Lord, that's what we come here for, thanking him, because the Lord protects us," said Deacon Marzell Blakney, of El Bethel M.B. Church, who says they used this tragedy outside of their church as a teaching moment for their young parishioners.
"We have got to talk to our young people, get our young people educated, so they can get a job and they won't be out here thinking about violence," said Blakney, "Back in the old days we would always talk about, 'You got to get out of high school,' but we preach 'You got to get out of college.'"
St. Louis police said homicide detectives are continuing the investigation.
