ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -
A man brutally beat a 66-year-old man until he was unconscious on a MetroLink platform in early April, according to charges.
Charges reveal the attack happened in the evening of April 8 at the Grand Avenue MetroLink platform in Midtown.
Dominique Hightower, 27, of the 1200 block of Biddle St. in St. Louis, was charged with First Degree Assault.
According to court documents, St. Louis police were called to the scene for a shooting but found the victim on the ground, unconscious and bleeding from his face.
Police said surveillance cameras showed Hightower punched the victim until the fell to the ground, then Hightower continued kicking the victim. Police also said Hightower admitted to the attack.
Hightower is being held in the St. Louis City Jail on a $40,000 bond.
A court hearing for Hightower is set for May 17.
Hightower has been convicted multiple times for misdemeanors of rule violations on public transit. St. Louis police said Hightower also was convicted in 2016 for theft, but his one-year sentence was suspended.
