SHILOH, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

An Iowa man is accused of assaulting a Metro security guard after she checked his ticket.

Sohaib Anglo, 27, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is charged with aggravated battery of a transit security officer.

Police said a female security officer approached him at the Shiloh-Scott MetroLink station on Monday and asked for his ticket as he boarded a westbound train. Police said he showed her a previously used ticket and that he was about to get on a train going in the wrong direction.

The security guard told him that he was about to travel the wrong way and that he needed to exit the train to purchase the correct ticket. Police said he then became upset and before the security guard said he had to buy a proper ticket or she would call the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said Anglo refused to leave the train and when the security guard went to retrieve her bag, Anglo punched her in the left eye and continued to throw punches.

Shiloh police later arrived on scene to arrest Anglo. He is being held in the St. Clair County Jail on $50,000 bond.

The security guard was treated at the scene for bruising and abrasions.
