ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A local World War II veteran who survived the bombing at Pearl Harbor will be laid to rest Tuesday.

Elmer Luckett was a longtime Shrewsbury resident who was also a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.

Luckett was interviewed several times about the attack on Pearl Harbor. In an interview with KMOX in December, the 97-year-old recounted hearing explosions before running to his battle station.

Luckett passed away on March 2. His visitation will be held at Kutis Funeral Home in Affton from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a service starting immediately after.
