SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

Charges have been filed against two suspects accused of beating a man, kidnapping him and forcing him to withdraw money from an ATM, before beating him some more.

Sherman Kinchen, 37, and Kimberly Cartwright, 24, are charged with first-degree burglary, kidnapping, and second-degree robbery. Kinchen was also charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Authorities said they arrived at a house in the 600 block of Bayless for a welfare check on March 5. They found Jeffrey Breitenfeld, 51, dead inside his own home.

Police said Cartwright was at Breitenfield's house when she sent a text to Kinchen he should come over so they could beat up Breitenfeld up.

Kinchen then arrived with another man and the two went inside and assaulted Breitenfeld, police say.

The three suspects are accused of then forcing Breitenfeld to go to an ATM to withdraw money so it could be given to Kinchen.

Police say the three then drove Breitenfeld back to his house where they beat him some more.

Kinchen is accused of beating Breitenfeld with a golf club and stabbing him.

Breitenfeld later died from his injuries.
