O'FALLON, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A 15-year-old is facing four felony charges after admitting to vandalizing the outside of Hinchcliffe Elementary School in O’Fallon, Illinois.

The school said a District 90 employee located damage and graffiti on the exterior of the building on Monday morning. The graffiti, district officials say, contained both threatening and non-threatening marks.

The police department said the damage to the building consisted of cut window screens and drawings of a sexual nature. There was also a handwritten message on one of the windows that read: "I'm going to shoot this [expletive] up."

The O’Fallon Police Department said a 15-year-old is charged with making terroristic threats among other things. The teenager reportedly took full responsibility and said the message was written as a joke for attention and had no legitimacy.

The suspect is currently being held at the St. Clair County Juvenile Detention Center.

He is currently being charged as a juvenile, but authorities said they are leaving the door open to charging him as an adult in the future.
