ST. LOUIS (HockeySTL) – The weight that must be carried from behind the blue line just got a little heavier for the slumping Blues. Jay Bouwmeester will miss the remainder of the season due to a left-hip injury, the St. Louis Blues announced Monday.
The 34-year-old defenseman will be sidelined for four to six months. After opening the season on IR following a broken ankle suffered in training camp, Bouwmeester dressed in just 35 games for the Blues this season. And he's not the only veteran presence the Blues will be missing for the near future.
Monday morning, the Blues also announced that forward Scottie Upshall will be re-evaluated in four weeks after suffering an MCL sprain in an overtime loss to Dallas on Saturday. After the Blues brought him back in late September on a one-year deal, Upshall has dressed in 61 games for St. Louis this season, recording seven goals and 11 assists.
