Police: Man fires gun through sunroof while traveling on I-70, striking toddler

NORTH ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

An investigation is underway after a 3-year-old girl was shot in the leg while traveling on I-70 in North St. Louis Saturday afternoon.

Police responded to the intersection of  I-70 at Union Blvd near the BP gas station where officers found the girl suffering from a gunshot wound in the leg.

Police said the shooting occurred on the highway as the child was inside a vehicle traveling westbound. Officers say a man in another reached out of the sunroof and fired the gun. 

The child was transported to an area hospital and is listed in stable condition.

No additional information has been released.
