UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Dozens of Dreamers rallied for action in University City Friday.

Dreamers and faith leaders gathered in the Delmar Loop outside of Senator Claire McCaskill’s office, demanding a permanent solution that saves the DACA program, allowing immigrants to stay in the country.

Late in 2017, the Trump administration announced it intended to end the program.

“Every day that passes, people are getting deported, people are getting detained, so we are trying to put urgency into them. This is not a matter that can wait any longer,” said Brayan Mejia who participated in the march.

More than 3,000 DACA recipients live in Missouri.

The Migration Policy Institute estimates that starting on Monday, an average of 915 DACA work permits will expire in the United State unless lawmakers act.

Currently, the program is under several temporary legal injunctions.
