TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Tucson Police Department is reporting that a suspect in the Tuesday, Feb. 27 homicide near Glenn and Country Club, is in the custody of the San Bernardino Police Department.

According to a TPD news release, detectives determined that the victim, Mark Garity had last been seen with his girlfriend's brother, 21-year-old Vincent Detwiler and one of Detwiler's friends.  Detwiler and his friend had been visiting from California and were reportedly driving around with Garity on the evening the shooting occurred.

Attempts to locate Detwiler and his friend in Tucson on the night of the shooting were not successful.  According to TPD, detectives quickly determined that Detwiler and his friend had returned to the San Bernardino, CA area.  The SBPD was contacted and detectives shared information on the homicide. SBPD then began searching for the two men.

SBPD located Detwiler on Wednesday, Feb. 28 and took him into custody.

Homicide detectives with TPD traveled to San Bernardino and searched the vehicle Detwiler had been using.  According to the detectives, after searching the vehicle and collecting evidence, they determined the shooting had taken place inside the vehicle.  Tucson police then reported Detwiler spoke with the detectives about his involvement in the shooting.

An arrest warrant was issued and Detwiler was booked into the San Bernardino County Jail on one count of second degree murder.  He is waiting on extradition back to Arizona.

The second man, Detwiler's friend has been identified, according to TPD but has not been arrested. The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released when available.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 88-CRIME.
