WEST ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

From an army ranger to an electrophysiologist to an artist, students at a local high school got the chance Thursday to hear what opportunities they could explore later in life.

Thursday was Career Day for Miriam Academy in West County. The school is a high school for students with learning disabilities.

A registered nurse told News 4 she fielded a lot of questions from students. A sophomore said she learned about a potential new career path.

"Very specific job, most people haven't heard of it, an electro-physiologist works on spinal surgery, they make sure nervous system is working, and that the patient doesn't die, isn't paralyzed," said sophomore Alexander Alper.

Miriam Academy opened in the fall of 2016.

The school located on N. Ballas in is having an open house on March 4 from 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m.
