ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- When do you think is the right time for a child to start thinking about a career choice?

Some local students have been working on that decision since second grade.

They are now fifth graders at Ellisville Elementary in west St. Louis County. Recently, they took part in a Career Day and got to meet and talk with professionals from their community.

One student told News 4 he got some important advice that could be used in any career.

“I've learned that people and in business category  you don't just always work with people that are always the nicest, you sometimes work with people who are bad and mean and sometimes you just have to work through it and keep going,” said Braxton Lawhorn.

Counselors say the goal of the four-year program is to match students’ strengths with possible careers.
