ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- The St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station released a video Friday showing their vision of the completed project.

The video, posted on their YouTube channel, is captioned: “check out our new video by PGAV Destinations featuring STL native, John Goodman, which is sure to make your gills flutter.”

A groundbreaking was held in November at the site of the Saint Louis Aquarium. Project leaders say you can expect tanks that hold thousands of aquatic animals from both rivers and oceans.

The aquarium says they are planning an immersive experience with plenty of educational and conservation opportunities.

Construction began in November and is expected to be completed summer of 2019.

The $45 million attraction will be located in the former mall area inside the St. Louis Union Station and feature one-of-a-kind exhibits and tanks. It will include a shark tank that will hold one of the largest collections of sharks in the Midwest and will feature a Shark Bridge, described as a unique V-shaped rope bridge that will suspend visitors inches above it.

The aquarium will be an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, which holds members to highest standards in animal care and exhibition, according to a press release. An animal husbandry team of marine biologists and aquarists will be responsible for the long-term care of the animals.
