Police at Granite City school investigate 'student matter'

GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

Granite City School District’s superintendent has released a statement involving a ‘student matter’ incident at Coolidge Middle School Friday morning.

“Parents, We want to inform you that we are in the process of an investigation of a student matter at Coolidge,” Superintendent Jim Greenwald said in a statement sent to parents of students at Coolidge. “The situation is under control, being addressed, and students and staff are safe. You will see a police presence at Coolidge this morning as we conclude our investigation.”

There is extra police presence at the middle school regarding the incident but the school is not on lockdown. It is not clear at this time what exactly the ‘student matter’ entails.
