CAUGHT IN THE ACT: Man takes lost phone from gas station

Posted: Updated:

FOX10 News is committed to putting the spotlight on people "Caught in the Act". Each week, we work with local law enforcement to show surveillance video in the hopes that you can help crack the case.

Saraland Police are looking for a man who took something that many of us use everyday -- a smartphone.

It happened in the middle of the day at a Saraland gas station. You can see a man pick up a smartphone that was left at the counter. He puts it back down, then takes it when the cashier isn’t looking.

The owner of the phone realized it was missing not long after, but came back to find it gone. That's when they looked at the surveillance. Police are hoping you can help identify this man.

Detective Collette Little with the Saraland Police Department says it is also believed that a female with this man stole a pair of sunglasses.

Although it may seem like a small crime, she says the department is taking it very seriously.

“This is somebody who knows what he is doing, and knows that it's wrong. So, hopefully we find him and stop him from doing it again to someone else,” said Little.
