CAUGHT IN THE ACT: Hotel worker robbed at gunpoint in Saraland

FOX10 News is committed to putting the spotlight on people “Caught in the Act.” Each week, we work with local law enforcement to show surveillance video in the hopes that you can help crack the case.

Saraland Police are looking for a man who robbed the front desk of a hotel at gunpoint. Police asked us not to use the name of the hotel.

It was around 1 a.m. in December when the robbery happened and police have been trying to find the suspect ever since.

A man barges through the front door of the hotel with a gun.

"He jumped over the counter with it in his hand and everything,” said Detective Collette Little with Saraland Police. "We don't know if he was standing out there watching and waiting to see if someone was there."

The man makes the employee behind the desk open the register, and then he starts taking the cash from inside.

"It looks like she was scared,” said Detective Little. “She threw her hands up at one point and stepped back. She said she didn't want to get hurt.”

The man didn’t stay at the register for long and we’re told he took less than $200. Detectives say clearly he was in a hurry because he almost slipped jumping over the counter. He also ran into the automatic doors on his way out.

"[The doors] didn’t open fast enough for him. So as far as planning goes, I'm not sure where his mind was at."

Not much is known about the man because he's wearing a solid black mask, but Saraland Police are hoping that someone will recognize something from the video to help get this guy off the streets.
