HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

MoDOT wrapped up an open house aimed at learning the community’s input on how to improve traffic along 270-North.

Drivers were torn on house to address the issues along I-270 between 70 and the Chain of Rocks Bridge.

The estimated cost for proposed improvements, additional lanes, reconfigured interchanges and turning outer roads into one-way streets is $700 million dollars.

“It does get kind of congested around here and it sounds like it would be a good idea,” said motorise John Carpenter.

MoDot transportation project manager Justin Wolf says the departments already raised about $106 million dollars and they’re hoping to get another $100 million from a federal grant.

Construction could start as soon as next year with proper funding.
