St. Charles Police are looking for a suspect in connection to a Snapchat shoe sale gone wrong that led to two-county chase Monday night.

The victim met the suspect through Snapchat and agreed to buy a pair of KD 10 sneakers in St. Charles, Mo. The victim arrived with two friends to meet the seller near the 3400 block of Wilshire Dr., police say.

Shortly after arriving, the suspect robbed the victim at gunpoint and drove off in a dark-colored Chevrolet Cruze.

According to authorities, the victim hopped into his car and chased the suspects down eastbound Highway 370.

Lieutenant Tom Wilkison of St. Charles police said during the chase the suspect fired shots at the victim's car.

"When they got near Mel Wetter Parkway, one of the suspect stood up through the open sunroof and fired multiple gunshots at the victims vehicle," said Wilkison.

As the vehicles entered into St. Louis city, the victim lost sight of the suspect’s car, police say.

Police said no one was injured during the incident but officers are utilizing Snapchat to track down the robber.

"We have the sellers profile information and well be working with Snapchat to seek out information on who runs that," Wilkison said.

Authorities are unsure if the suspect has tried this before but say this incident is similar to the robbery that occurred in Normandy Sunday. Officers are encouraging potential buyers to use a safe meeting place.

"In this case, the victims are very luck one of them wasn't shot and killed," Wilkison said. "A few dollars for a pair of shoes isn't worth your safety."
