SOUTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -

St. Louis police responded late Sunday night to a call for a “cutting” incident in the 600 block of Holy Hills in South City.

The investigation revealed that the victim, a 32-year-old female, and suspect, 32-year-old man, engaged in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation.

Police said that during the argument, the suspect threatened to kill the victim. Fearing for her safety, the woman stabbed the suspect once in the upper back. The suspect continued to approach the victim, but the woman was able to run away, according to police.

In a last-ditch effort to get away from the suspect, the victim got her gun and fired shots in the air to scare the suspect away, according to the police investigation.

The suspect, who eventually fled to a nearby neighbor’s house, was transported to a hospital, where he was listed as stable.

The investigation is ongoing.
