ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on the Stan Musial Bridge Sunday morning after he pulled over to help other drivers involved in an accident.

The incident happened after 6 a.m. and closed the westbound lanes of the bridge. The man who was struck was not injured, according to Illinois State Police (ISP).

ISP said there was a minor accident on the bridge in which a vehicle rear-ended another. The man who was struck had stopped to help, and when he got out of his car, he was hit.

ISP said the initial accident is due to slick spots on the bridge. Police are handling multiple slick spots on other bridges in the Metro East.

After the accident, ISP called IDOT to the Stan Musial Bridge to put salt treatment down.
