MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A man was arrested after he fired his gun into the air alongside Interstate 270 in Maryland Heights Saturday afternoon, police said.

Marvin Byrd II, 45, from the 10100 block of Cabot Dr., is charged with unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, and resisting arrest.

Maryland Heights Police responded to the area of northbound I-270 just south of I-70 for reports of a suspect shooting his gun on the shoulder of the highway.

Upon arrival, officers commanded Byrd to show them his hands. He refused, according to police, but they were able to manage to eventually handcuff Byrd.

Police said no one was injured.

Byrd is a convicted felon, which is why he is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

Byrd's bond is set at $40,000.

The gun was recovered at the scene, according to investigators.

Police closed three lanes of the I-270 for 20 minutes to process the scene.
