The Cardinals are bringing back former closer Jason Motte on a minor league deal, according to a report by Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Motte the Cards closer when the Cards won the World Series in 2011 and recorded 42 saves in 2012.
He left the Cardinals after the 2014 season and has spent time with the Cubs, Rockies and Braves.
The deal, which is pending a physical, includes an invite to Spring Training.
