HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

A convicted Henrico drug dealer accused of selling a deadly mix of heroin and fentanyl will spend the next three years behind bars.

Marquis Wallace was sentenced to 20 years with 17 suspended on Thursday for two felony charges of manufacturing.

Prosecutors believe the drugs Wallace sold killed 31-year-old JW Taylor last year, but his charges do not directly link him to the death.

In a unique move, prosecutors asked JW Taylor’s mother, Danie Taylor, to testify during sentencing. They hoped it would influence the judge’s decision.

"I think about it every day," said Danie Taylor. "I just want justice for my son."

Danie Taylor says three years in jail is not enough compared to her son’s life and the loss that his daughter must face every day.

"She talks about her daddy all the time," says Danie Taylor. "I get her on the weekends, and we color pictures for daddy. She writes letters to her daddy."

In the past, the Henrico Commonwealth's attorney has said it can sometimes be difficult to directly link a drug dealer with someone's death. The prosecutor hoped Danie Taylor's heartbreaking testimony would play a factor in the judge's decision at sentencing.

"I want him to take into account that my son has a six-year-old daughter that will never see him again," says Danie Taylor. "That will never get to hear his voice, never get to see his face."
