Hazelwood man facing charges for allegedly carjacking Meals on Wheels truck

HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A Hazelwood man is accused of carjacking two vehicles including a Meals on Wheels truck.

Jorion Garrett, 19, of the 6900 block of Woodhurst Dr. is facing federal charges including two counts of armed carjacking and two felony charges for pulling out a gun to commit a crime of violence.

Garrett is being identified as one of two suspects who are accusing to stealing a 2014 Jeep Liberty from a Meals on Wheels volunteer on Jan. 4 in the 8300 block of Sagewood Lane in Hazelwood, Mo.

Charging documents disclose St. Louis County police were led on a high-speed chase after they spotted the stolen Jeep Liberty a few days later but Garrett and a passenger ran off after the Jeep’s tire blew out.

Documents also claim Garrett was involved in a 2016 Dodge Journey carjacking in St. Louis County on Nov. 21.

Garrett was arrested on Feb. 6 following a police raid of his home and found a gun with faded serial numbers, according to charging documents.

Garrett is scheduled to plead not guilty.
