WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Police in Webster Groves are warning residents that burglaries are on the rise.

The number of burglaries has quadrupled since 2017. This time last year the police department said there were only three burglaries, so far in 2018 there have been 12.

In most burglaries, the suspect(s) steal jewelry or cash.

The recent burglaries are less than three miles from one another on Summit, W. Swon, W. Lockwood and Catalina Avenues. Most were home burglaries and there was at least one car burglary.

Police told News 4 they have increased patrols in the residential areas. They also want to remind residents to lock their houses, garages and cars as a method of deterrent.
